My mom came to Bikram yoga with me today!

Between raw food and Bikram yoga, wowee am I feeling good! My mom is on her way, but she's a few months behind and about 25 years older. (Funny how that works!) She has been off and on raw for a couple years now, mostly high raw. Her biggest struggle is with not getting much good exercise because she was injured in December and ended up with frozen shoulder. It's been discouraging for her to eat so well yet still be in pain.

That happens sometimes. Food is not the ONLY piece in the health equation.

That's so easy to forget, it seems. I've been telling her for months now that she needs to get some good exercise and really get her lymphatic system (and every other system moving, really) moving along. Vigorious exercise is like WD-40 for the body.

So, for months I've been planting seeds. Mostly just coming home feeling like a warrior. I haven't (exactly) been trying to trick her into coming. But she sees how good it makes me feel.

So, she finally came today!! That too a lot of guts for her. If you're not familiar with frozen shoulder or Bikram, let me just tell you that is a challenging combination. Bikram involves stretching the body every which way for 90 minutes in 105-degree heat. And frozen shoulder is just how it sounds. There is so much scar tissue in the shoulder, that it is literally locked in place.

We've got a date to go back to Bikram together on Monday night. Did I mention that I am proud of her?! :) Well, I told her plenty. Now I'm telling you!

--------------

I ate today:
  • In the morning: 1 quart green smoothie (half a big bunch of lacinto kale, 8 big strawberries, 1 tangerine, 2 bananas)
  • After Bikram: a fruit salad with about 5 strawberries and 1 orange
  • For lunch: a big spring/spinach mix salad with raisins, 1/2 avocado, 1/2 tomato, 1/4 large cuke, a handful of red cabbage, and ACV + EVOO + sea salt dressing
  • (I wasn't really hungry in the late afternoon, so I just had some water and didn't force food on myself. Usually I need a snack, though...)
  • For dinner: a big spring/spinach salad a lot like the one at lunch but with some cauliflower, carrot shavings and parmesan cheez added + about 5 big dehydrated mushrooms with a parmesan cheez + spinach + basil filling. (This was my mom's special recipe and really yummy. She never was a good cook, but she is brilliant when it comes to uncooking!)

That's it. I'm off to yoga teacher training all day tomorrow, so I don't know if I'll have a chance to blog or not. I'm sure it will be a wonderful day, though -- May in north Florida is marvelous. :)

I had ice cream for dinner last night.

One of the marvels of being a raw foodie. No guilt, only pleasure and health. That just doesn't get old.

It was banana ice cream, by the way. With some walnuts sprinkled in at the end. Yum, yum!
